PowerShell SharePoint Get Custom Field Values?

I've been searching and searching, and I think my brain is fried. Please help

SharePoint 2007

Windows Server 2003

PowerShell v2

I loaded some SharePoint PowerShell scripts found here: https://spps.codeplex.com/ so I can use some of the newer cmdlets.

I am somewhat new to PowerShell and SharePoint (using PowerShell WITH SharePoint about 1.5 weeks) so please bear with me.

We have been having performance issues with SharePoint that was installed in 2009 by previous IT. I installed the SPDiag tool from Microsoft https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc508987(v=office.12).aspx and found that we have over 250,000 image files in one list, stored within the SharePoint database. BTW, our SharePoint database is almost 600GB (recommendation is max of 100GB).
